FranchiseMapp (“we”, “us”) builds territory-mapping software for UK franchisors. This page explains what data we collect through our website and application, why, and what rights you have over it — written to describe what the product actually does, not a generic template.
What we collect
- Account data. When you create an account, we collect your company/franchisor name, your own name (optional), your email address, and a password. Your password is never stored — only a one-way cryptographic hash of it, so we can verify a login attempt but can’t recover or see the password itself.
- Territory and franchisee data. The territories you draw, and any owner name, contact details, revenue figures or address you choose to attach to them. This can include personal data about your own franchisees. You control this data and decide what to enter — we process it on your instructions to provide the service, in the same way any software you use to run your business would.
- Shared map links. If you generate a link to share a view of your map, the snapshot behind that link only ever includes territory shapes, names, colours and commercial status (owned / reserved / available) — never owner names, contact details, revenue or addresses, since anyone with the link can open it without logging in.
- Anonymous usage analytics. Where enabled, we log which features are used — for example, that a territory was saved, or a view was toggled — to understand how the product is actually used. This is off by default. When it is on, every event is tied to a one-way cryptographic hash of your account, generated with a secret key that never leaves our infrastructure — there is no stored link back to your real account, even for us. Logged details are always small counts or categories (e.g. “1–5 districts”), never a territory name, address, contact detail or exact figure.
Cookies
We use only the cookies strictly necessary to keep you signed in (a session cookie) and to protect the login form against cross-site request forgery. We don’t use advertising, tracking or analytics cookies, and we don’t store anything else on your device — which is also why we don’t show a cookie-consent banner: there’s nothing here that requires your consent to store under UK cookie law.
Who else your data goes to
- Payment processing. Paid subscriptions are billed through Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe — they never pass through or get stored on our own servers. Stripe processes your email address and payment details as a processor, on our instructions, to collect payment and issue invoices; because Stripe, Inc. is based in the United States, this involves an international transfer of that data, made under Stripe’s own data protection safeguards for exactly this purpose. - Google Maps. The territory map is built on Google Maps Platform. Loading it means your browser communicates directly with Google, subject to Google’s own privacy policy.
- Hosting. Our application and database run on third-party cloud infrastructure, which processes data on our behalf as a data processor, strictly to provide the service to you.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone else for their own marketing purposes.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and territory data for as long as your account is active. Deleting a territory removes it immediately and permanently — the app tells you this at the point of deletion, since it genuinely can’t be undone. Deleting your account removes your account and franchisor data in the same way.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, delete or export the personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain kinds of processing. To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below.
Children's privacy
FranchiseMapp is a business tool for franchisors and isn’t directed at or intended for use by children. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
